More than 40 manufacturers of CCTV cameras are based in Shenzhen city in Guangdong province, making it the major production center in mainland China for CCTV cameras. Less than half of these anufacturers are large-scale suppliers that produce more than 100,000 units monthly.
The range of cameras produced by these manufacturers includes b/w CCD, color CCD, CMOS, board, miniature, water-resistant and wireless units. The output may also include CMOS PC cameras and digital CCD cameras.
Water-resistant cameras with IR function and color CCD cameras are the two mainstream models in mainland China at present. The latter group is often referred to as standard CCD cameras. Makers expect these two camera types to maintain their mainstream position throughout 2005, even as IP CCD cameras emerge. Makers are currently exploring other possible applications of IP cameras. Aside from security applications, IP cameras may also be used for videoconferencing, medical treatment, and television services over the Internet (IP TV).
Mainland China manufacturers expect CCTV cameras to eventually move to the high-end with image resolutions of more than 480 TVL and user-friendly controls.
Cosmetics and form factors will vary according to buyer's tastes and preferences. Interviewed makers, however, said they would continue to use waterproof aluminum materials for housing. |
